Antibes

Juan les Pins is a quite small village, situated just next to Antibes. It is a city full of life, and the jet-set people come from far and wide to spend their holidays here. Despite its small area, Juan les Pins has an exuberant nightlife with many glamorous clubs and nice bars. A lot of events like concerts and festivals take place here, for example the famous jazz festival “Juan à jazz”, a must see for all jazz lovers out there!

A summer night in July last year I had a magical time in this lovely city with my boyfriend. We are both really big Paul Kalkbrenner fans, so when we found out that he was playing at a festival at la Pinède in Juan les Pins, we just had to go there. After weeks of waiting the day for the concert finally arrived, and we were more than thrilled. We took the train from Nice train station, which is really easy and comfortable. Trains depart from Nice train station about once every half hour and the train ride takes approximately 30 minutes. My boyfriend and I spent those 30 minutes listening to Paul Kalkbrenner songs, and talking about how excited we were to see him live.

When we arrived we had some time to kill, so we went to a supermarket to buy a bottle of fine rosé and some snacks. We sat down on the grass in the park at la Pinède, just outside the concert area. Another DJ were playing, and everybody around us was dancing and partying.
The festival spirit was on top even outside the concert area! After finishing our bottle of rosé we went in, luckily we had bought tickets for this event on the internet, because it was all sold out. We saw a lot of disappointed faces of people trying to buy tickets at the door.

The concert was just amazing, I have no other words to describe it. The music and the atmosphere, the whole experience was incredible, and the best moment was when Paul Kalkbrenner finished the gig by playing “Sky and Sand”, which is one of my personal favourites. After this delightful moment we ended our night by taking a drink in a cozy little bar. I can tell you, we were really thirsty after hours of dancing to awesome music!
