Located in the middle of the countryside, right next to the Maures Mountains in the Var region, the tortoise village in Gonfaron is a unique place, home to over 2500 tortoises!

The tortoise village is a great day out for the family, and an excellent way to learn more about these reptiles that date back to the time of the dinosaurs. A tour of the village will take you through various spaces, via lanes and shady paths, and past pools for fresh water tortoises, a nursery and tortoise clinic.

Most importantly, you learn about the park’s mission, namely to breed, care for and study tortoises of all types, exotic, native or even rare, such as Hermann’s tortoise, which is greatly threatened and France’s only land tortoise.
