Visit to the Saint-Cézaire Caves

The Saint-Cézaire Caves came into existence around 6 million years ago, but were only discovered in 1890 by a farmer striking his spade into them. From that one simple action, an incredible discovery was made: sumptuous exceptionally mineral rich caves.

Nowadays, the caves include around 200m of well managed safe paths created to help visitors discover this subterranean world and its breath-taking landscapes: amazingly formed concretions that resemble stars, jellyfish, skulls and calcified skeletons. All of the caves have been illuminated to best effect by specially adapted and discreet lights.

The Saint-Cézaire Caves are ideally located, with the entrance just a few metres from departmental road D613. A free car park has been provided close to the caves for visitors.

Tours leave at regular intervals and last around 40 minutes.
