How to tell if your jewelry is gold?

To detect if your jewelry is gold, verify the mark first.
If it is real gold, you should find the karat amount stamped into the jewelry.
The marks are:
10 karat 417 marking : 41.7 percent gold purity
14 karat 585 marking : 58.5 percent gold purity
18 karat 750 marking : 75 percent gold purity
22 karat 917 marking : 91.7 percent gold purity
24 karat 999 marking : 99.9 percent gold purity
Otherwise you may buy a Nitric acid test kit on internet. It will cover karats ranging from 10 karat to 22 karat. Or ask to a jeweler, it is easier and safer.
