1860 : Pony Express


On April 3, 1860, the first mail service using riders on a horseback instead of traditional stagecoaches, the Pony Express began between Missouri and California. Time delivery service will be greatly reduced, however the Pony Express ceased its activities after only one year.

1948 : Marshall Plan


On April 3, 1948, U.S. President Harry Truman signed the Foreign Assistance Act, better known as the Marshall Plan, designed to assist financially the reconstruction of 16 European countries.

1955 : Train Crash near Guadalajara


On April 3, 1955, a train derailed near Guadalajara in Mexico and ends in a canyon. 300 people were killed.

1974 : Super Outbreak


On April 3, 1974, 148 tornadoes among which 6 F5, hit 13 U.S. states and Ontario in Canada, killing 319 people and doing considerable damage. It was the greatest concentration of tornadoes ever recorded over 24 hours.

2010 : Ipad released


On April 3, 2010, Apple released the iPad, a tablet computer with an LCD which is used via the touch screen. 3 million copies were sold the first 3 months.
