Respond to offensive messages on chat

It can be useful to know how to react when someone insults you on a messenger or a blog.
We must first take into account that in a chat, a message can be misinterpreted and that its author may want to say something completely different from what we think at first reading because we can not be helped by the tone of voice or facial expression to determine the state of mind of the sender.
Therefore, we should read the rude message several times to be sure we understand.
We can respond by asking for clarification on the remarks.
If the answer is always rude, we may reply that is that everyone is entitled to his opinions but must remain polite.
Then we can put the peron in position "ignore" if possible, otherwise it is better to sign off. There is also the possibility to contact the administrator to ask his help.
However it is unnecessary to answer in the same tone as the author of the rude message : there are enough chats or blogs to discuss all issues to stay on a messager which makes you feel uncomfortable.
