1793 : Opening of the Louvre Museum


On November 8, 1793, the Louvre, formerly a royal palace became a museum and opened to the public. With the conquests of the French army, its collections rapidly grew. The museum is now one of the richest in the world.

1864 : Re-election of Lincoln


On November 8, 1864, President Abraham Lincoln was easily re-elected to the American presidency.
