On 9 May 1949, Rainier Grimaldi became Prince of Monaco known as Rainier III when his grandfather,Louis II died. Louis II 's daughter daughter had renounced to her rights to the throne in favor of her son.

1960 : Authorization of the contraceptive pill in the USA


On May 9, 1960, U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the authorization of the contraceptive pill. It was available in France only in 1967.

1994 : Ebola Virus
