1970 : Avalanche in Val d'Isere


On 10 February 1970, an avalanche crashed down on the Val d'Isere ski resort. 42 people were killed.

1996 : Kasparov v. Deep Blue


On February 10, 1996, the Chess Grandmaster Garry Kasparov his first chess game ever to a computer, Deep Blue, developed by IBM.

2006 : Torino Winter Olympics


On February 10, 2006, the XX Olympic Winter Games were opened in Turin. During these games, Kjetil Andre Aamodt became the most titled skier of the Winter Olympics (8 medals) by winning the Super-G.
