1940 : Beginning of the Battle of Britain


On July 10, 1940, Germany launched a series of raids against Great Britain to prepare for the invasion. 1943 : The Allies landed in Sicily

1976 : Seveso disaster

On July 10, 1985, the ship of the environmental organization Greenpeace, the Rainbow Warrior, was sunk by French secret service agents in the port of Auckland in New Zealand. After witnessing the first explosion, a photographer for the organization, Fernando Pereira, was killed in a second explosion while trying to save his photographic equipment. Greenpeace protested at that time against the French nuclear tests at Mururoa, French Polynesia.
