It happened one 12 March

1928 : St. Francis Dam On March 12, 1928, St. Francis Dam, California, opened just two years earlier, broke, flooding the valley and killed 600 people.
1930 : March against the salt tax in India On March 12, 1930, Mahatma Gandhi and his companions began a march of 320 km, called the "Salt March" or Salt Satyagraha from Ahmedabad to the Indian Ocean to protest against the British monopoly on salt. Tens of thousands of people were thrown in jail after this march which had a major impact on the decision of Indians to gain their independence and on the British public who were, from that moment, great supporters of Gandhi.
1938 : Anschluss On 12 March 1938, Austria, invaded by German troops, is annexed to the 3rd Reich.
1945 : Anne Frank On March 12, 1945, Anne Frank, the young Dutch author of Diary of Anne Frank died of typhus in the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen.
1993 : Bombay Bombing On March 12, 1993, a series of attacks occured in the financial sector in Mumbai. 13 bombs exploded in crowded places, killing over 200 people.
