Wildlife Garden

An ecological garden is not only a well-kept garden without pesticides. It is also a garden created primarily with native plants that will attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife.

When creating a garden, it is good to think about harmonizing trees and shrubs bearing fruit with flowering plants. There must be also small water holes on the ground and up in the trees for the birds.

To find out what local plants would grow in your garden, you may go explore the local flora : find out which plants grow in which type of environment. There are also many websites reporting on the local wildlife. When installing native plants, they are generally more resistant to pests. Avoid over use of pesticides that kill all insects, pests and beneficial. Beneficial insects (bees, ladybugs, praying mantises, lacewings, dragonflies, spiders, butterflies ...) feed on pests or pollinate the garden.

To attract pollinators, we can install nectar plants : buddleia (butterfly bush), clematis, hollyhocks, blueberry, lavender, rosemary, poppy, slimy inula, rock roses, hawthorn, sage, fruit trees, ...
