1966 : Miranda Rights


On June 13, 1966, the United States Supreme Court delivered its decision in Miranda v Arizona that established the principle that every person should be informed of his or her rights before any questioning.

1971 : Pentagon Papers released by the New York Times


On June 13, 1971, the New York Times began publishing the so-called Pentagon Papers, a study by the Defense Department on government policy in the Vietnam War. This study demonstrated the lies and manipulations of the government towards the US people in order to make them support the policy of the Cold War in Asia and the Vietnam War.

1986 : Tutu met Botha


On 13 June 1986, the South African Anglican bishop and Nobel Peace laureate Desmond Tutu met with South African President Pieter Botha to discuss the state of emergency declared after anti-apartheid demonstrations in the country.
Tutu was appointed Archbishop of Cape Town on September 7th, 1986.
