1912 : RMS Titanic sank


On 14 April 1912, the Titanic sank, a few hours after striking an iceberg. It was her first trip and her builders had boasted that she was unsinkable. Over 1500 people lost their lives.

1945 : Liberation of Bergen Belsen concentration camp


On April 15, 1945, British troops liberated Bergen-Belsen in Germany. The few thousands of prisoners that survived suffered from typhus, typhoid and tuberculosis. On April 15, 2010, all flights are cancelled in several European countries due to the eruption of volcano Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland.
