Know how to sit when wearing a kilt

When you wear a kilt, you should be able to sit comfortably, without wrinkling in your clothing and avoiding awkward situations.
First, to sit down, put your hands behind you and hold the pleats. It is more polite to avoid contact between your skin and a seat used by others and it avoids wrinkling in your kilt.
Do not sit with knees apart, if you want to avoid embarrassing situations : keep them tight. For this, cross your ankles.
Pay attention to the length of your kilt: it should go below your knees. Otherwise, it will not cover you properly when you sit.
When you sit down or you stand up, do a quick check that your kilt is well positioned.
If you need to bend down, bend your knees rather than leaning forward.
If it is windy, remember to put weights in the pleats of your kilt to avoid being taken for Marilyn Monroe over a subway air vent.
