Avoid risky behavior between a child and his dog

Some dogs may attack a child for no reason but most dog bites on a child of his own house could be avoided by changing the child's behavior towards the dog.
Children are often very rude with their dogs and we expect that the dog will suffer these attacks without flinching. After a lot of this type of aggression, the dog may well not be able to take any more and react like any human would. And when you have a large dog in front of a small human, injuries can easily be very serious.
Behaviors to avoid are:
- A dog should never be disturbed when eating. We do not like someone else to come put one's hands on our plates. A dog does not like that either.
- We should not try to take an object from the mouth of the dog. We do not like someone to come and take our things when we are currently using them. A dog does not like that either.
- Children often tend to put their noses right up against our face when they have something to say. They have the same behavior with the dog. But the dog likes to keep a little distance between a person and his head.
- We should not disturb a sleeping dog. We do not like someone to come to wake us up every quarter of an hour. A dog does not like that either.
- Children do not like someone to pull their hair, ears, nose, ... and someone who is always teasing them. A dog does not like that either.
- Children do not like when someone climb on them. A dog does not like that either.
- We do not like to have someone screaming in our ears. A dog does not like that either. Furthermore, the dog's hearing is much more delicate than ours.
Once the child's behavior is changed, we can teach him to play with his dog without making the pet irritated : ball games, learning tricks, walks, games of hide and seek ...
Even if the child behaves well with his dog and the dog is tolerant, the two of them should not be left unattended.
