Feed yout gerbil

The gerbil intestines are fragile and we must be careful to give it a balanced diet, with lots of protein and little fat. The gerbil needs little food but it likes to sort its food. Like humans, it often prefers the fatty and sugary foods that are not good for its health. It loves sunflower seeds but they should be given to it only sparingly because of their high lipid levels. You can buy seed mix sold in pet shops by choosing a quality product with high protein levels.
Once a week, you can give it a piece of hard boiled egg or hard cheese and twice a week, a piece of carrot or radish.
It is essential not to give it sweets and salads which are very dangerous for its health.
