1533 : Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn


On January 25, 1533, after having managed to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon, King Henry VIII of England married Anne Boleyn. Three years later, he had her executed. Their daughter became Queen of England in 1558 under the name of Elizabeth I.

1924 : Winter olympics in Chamonix

1968 : An Israeli submarine disappears


On January 25, 1968, an Israeli submarine, the Dakar, disappeared between Crete and Haifa. Purchased by Israel from the UK, it left Scotland and made its first trip to its new country. The submarine and its 69 crew were never found.

1995 : Nuclear tension with Russia


On 25 January 1995, Norwegian and American scientists launched a Black Brant XII sounding rocket to study the aurora borealis over Norway. Despite the notification of the launch to them, Russian thought for a moment they were attacked by a nuclear missile Trident launched by a U.S. submarine.
