1951 : 22nd amendment


On February 27, 1951, the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is ratified. It enacts that no man or woman can serve more than ten years (two terms) as President of the United States.

1964 : Leaning Tower of Pisa


On 27 February 1964, the Italian government announced that the Tower of Pisa has reached a dangerous degree of inclination and a storm or an earthquake could cause it to collapse. It asked for help and sugqestions to save the monument, whose construction took 177 years from 1173.
The rescue work has finally begun in 1999 and lasted 2 years.

2010 : Eartquake in Chile


On February 27, 2010, an earthquake of magnitude 8.8 on the Richter scale hit Chile and particularly the cities of Arauco and Coronel. 600 people were killed and 2 million people were left homeless.
