1975 : Accident in a mine in IndiaOn December 27, 1975, a violent explosion, probably caused by a pocket of methane occured in the Chasnala Colliery coal mine in Dhanbad, India. Minors who were not killed by the explosion, were drowned by water and debris which fell on them following the rupture of a reservoir nearby. Between 370 and 700 minors (record-keeping of the mine was not very precise) were killed. |
