On 30 March 1987 at an auction at Christie's of London, the picture of Van Gogh's Sunflowers, was sold for the sum of 22.5 million pounds, a record for a painting.

1999 : Philip Morris sentenced


In Portland, a jury ordered the tobacco companies Philip Morris to pay $81 million to the family of a man who died of lung cancer after smoking Marlboros cigarettes for over 40 years.
This is the second time that Philip Morris lost such a major lawsuit.
