THE SOUKS OF MARRAKECH

THE PALACE OF BAHIA

Ranked among the most beautiful palaces of Marrakech, it was built by the vizier for one of his favorite among 80 concubines. The royal family visited regularly, but was staying only in one part of the palace’s 150 rooms of which spaces are punctuated by fountains and small interior gardens.

THE KOUTOUBIA MOSQUE

Built in the twelfth century, the mosque with the Hispano-Moorish architecture is famous for its 226 feet (69m) minaret the highest in Marrakech, topped by three decreasing diameters superimposed spheres which symbolize earth, water and fire.

THE MENARAGARDENS

The freshness distilled by the central pond of the garden planted with olive trees inspires serene and romantic walks around the Saadian pavilion of the 19th century that stands in front of the water body of which it is the lighthouse image.

DAR SI SAID MUSEUM

This old palace of the XIXth century hosts collections devoted to Marrakech’s arts and crafts and its surrounding area. Jewellery, costumes, worked leather, pottery, chests, antiques weapons and woodwork are displayed in a magical setting that also highlights a rich collection of Berber carpets.

MAJORELLE GARDENS

Designed in 1923 by the painter and French plant collector Jacques Majorelle, then restored by fashion designer Yves St-Laurent who donated it to the city, this lush subtropical garden is planted with many kinds of plants and trees. Placed at the heart of the garden, the villa with the famous blue front of Majorelle hosts the collection of Islamic art of Pierre Bergé and Yves St Laurent.
