PRAGUE CASTLE

THE WALLENSTEIN PALACE GARDENS (Valdštejnský palác)

Beautiful example of baroque architecture, the largest palace built in Prague from 1623 to 1630 is currently the head of the Senate. The gardens opened to the public host fountains, a pond and replicas of bronze Mennerist statues signed by Adrian de Vries.

COMMUNISM MUSEUM

Three rooms host screenings of archive footage and documentaries on the events in Prague, the exhibition of artifacts’ (costumes, photos, paintings …) and staged restoring the atmosphere of the time.

PARK LETNA (Letenské Sady)

With its 23 acres; it is the second largest park in Prague. It reveals two houses from the Universal Exhibitions of 1891 and 1958, one of which hosts a restaurant; there are play areas for children and a roller skates track.

THE HISTORICAL CENTER CLASS

Registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage list, Prague’s historical center is a prime example of the medieval town and a concentration of architectural styles from all European countries.

CHARLES BRIDGRE (KARLŮV MOST)

Prague’s landmark, the bridge of 0.32 miles (520m) built at the request of the Emperor Charles IV in 1402 is boarded with 30 Baroque statues of saints. Recognized as one of the most beautiful medieval bridge in Europe, it connects the old town with Malá Strana district.

MALA STRANA DISTRICT

Nicknamed «The Baroque Pearl»; it is full of mansions, gardens, squares and palaces harboring romantic hotels or embassies. Quays bordering the Vltava are facing the small Kampa Island.

NOVE MESTRO

Symbolized by the Wenceslas Square, the «new city» founded by Charles IV, king of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, deploys large urban streets with the intense activity around its shops, clubs and cafes.

Wenceslas SQUARE

Dominated by the equestrian statue of the Patron Saint Wenceslas is one of the main squares in Prague. Located in the heat of the city it opens on wide avenues lined with buildings of rich and diversified architecture. We also discover the monument erected in memory of Ian Palach, a student who immolated himself by fire in this square in 1968 during Prague Spring, in protest against communist repression.

THE ASTRONOMICAL CLOCK TOWER

Established in 1410 and located on the wall of City Hall, it comes alive by ringing every hour until 9 PM. Besides indicating the daily position of the sun and moon, the holy of the day and the astrological signs, we also see the 12 apostles’ parade above the upper quadrant and the upper part shows four allegories representing the vanity, the avarice, lust and death.

ZIZKOV TELEVISION TOWER

Built on the hill of Zizkov district, this High-Tech transmission tower’s architecture is 709 feet (216m) high and is opened to the public (paid access). It hosts a cafe-restaurant and offers a unique perspective on the city.

GOOD PLAN

The PRAGUE CARD valid for 2 or 4 days provides free access to 50 museums and monuments including the castles of Prague and Troja, St. Agnes Convent, Bertramka, Smetana Museum, the Czech Museum of Music and that of the decorative arts. It also offers discounts on many other sites.
