Grimaldi Castle

château grimaldi
Built on Greek and Roman ruins, the castle has been awarded over the centuries a whole range of role as Bishop in the Middle Ages, castle and residence for the royal governors. Acquired by the city in 1937, it was converted into a municipal museum in 1946 highlighting the artist Pablo Picasso. But the collections are quite diverse with the history of Cagnes, the ethnographic approach and the modern and contemporary art. The decor leaves enjoy a rather baroque style made in marble and painting. Each summer, the castle offers temporary exhibitions as part of its international festival of painting. The sight of the castle offers a splendid panorama over the city, the sea and the Alps.
