Located on the Boulevard du Jardin Exotique, the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology opens its doors in 1902 in the former Government House. It comes in two rooms. The first, the room Albert 1st traces the major episodes in the history of mankind and traces of fauna disappeared or migrated during the ice ages, interglacial, Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic. The second room Rainier III includes the results of archaeological excavations which the initiative was taken by Prince Albert from 1895 to 1922, those made from 1945 and burials from Italy and Liguria. The research is mainly made in the caves of the Prince, the Center and St. Martin. This research focused on materials (raw materials, ceramic bone), different techniques work, iconographic studies and studies of funerary rituals. Symposia are organized and the proceedings are published online on the website or directly to the museum. Through its various activities, the museum continually renews its historic and cultural enrichment.
