DESCRIPTION

La Trinité is a town of over 10,000 inhabitants located in the eastern city of Nice, in the Paillon Valley. It is also called Trinité-Victor in honor of Victor Emmanuel I (duke of Savoy, King of Sardinia, Prince of Piedmont).

HISTORY

La Trinité was first a hamlet which belonged to the town of Eze, from which it separated in 1818. At that time the village was still called Trinité Victor. Its name was changed to La Trinité in 1951.

La Trinité is today an important place of pilgrimage to Provence and Northern Italy, because it has a miraculous reputation following several miracles which occurred in the seventeenth century.

ACTIVITIES/MONUMENTS

Several monuments testify to the history of La Trinité :

• The parish church of Holy Trinity : listed as an historical monument,


• Baroque Saint-Grat Church: built in 1848,


• The Monastery Notre-Dame de Laghet: built as a result of the miracles which occurred in the seventeenth century, with its small museum,


• The Grande Corniche nature park : walking trails overlooking the Paillon offering a magnificent view over the sea,

By train: The station of La Trinité is directly connected to the Gare de Nice.

By plane: The international airport of Nice Cote d'Azur is located 14Km from La Trinité, shuttles to the center of Nice are available.

By car: From Marseille : Take the A8 motorway and exit at Nice 55-East towards La Trinité / Saint André, and follow La Trinité.

From Italy : take the A8 motorway and take exit 55-East towards Nice Nice Centre / La Trinité / Saint André and follow La Trinité.
