Woman with lavender
This figure is a farm woman holding in her hand a sprig of freshly cut lavender. Cultivated on the high plateaux of Provence, lavender flowers in June. The harvest, in ancient times done by scythe, is mainly done at the height of summer, when the flowering is at its peak. The lavender woman wears a white head-piece and a blue dress which coordinates with the sprig of flowers she carries. On her left arm, is hung a basket filled with lavender flowers, gift to the child Jesus.
Dressed clay figure of 18 or 26 cm, with moving members, entirely decorated by hand.
