The sunny days are back, and with them the tourist trains are back on track. Here's the opportunity to experience one of the few tourist railways of France, the Train des Merveilles (the wonder train).


Beginning in June, the Train des Merveilles resumes its daily journey between Nice and Tende to allow us to take an excursion in the hinterland of Nice. On board this train, we have the pleasure of discovering the valleys of Paillon, Bevera and Roya and charming villages that dot the landscape, The Escarène, Sospel, Breil sur Roya, Saorge... alternately perched on a rocky outcrop or nestled deep in the valley.

To make this trip even better, animation is provided on the train every day from 1 June to 30 September. Tour guides, passionate about the region take us through its history, its traditions and its cultural wealth, sharing with us the authenticity of this territory.



Tende and the Valley of Wonders


After a trip of just under two hours, we descend to the station of Tende. From there, we have the choice between discovering the village of Tende and taking a walk in the surrounding nature in the Valley of Wonders.


The tourist office offers us several tours, each of about two hours walking that allow us to get to know the flora of the region thanks to a nature trail, to follow a small river or to climb up to the perched chapel of St. Saveur.




A good restaurant


After the walk, we suggest you make a break for lunch in the restaurant Le Prieuré which is located in Saint-Dalmas de Tende. A fresh and original menu at rates between €11 and €25. Bon appetit!

j y etais allee il y a 30 ans en arriere en famille et ca m avait beaucoup plus a l époque, moi qui aime les montagnes, j etais tres bien servie:))))il faudrait que j'y retourne un de ces 4 matins:))))d ailleurs.

Un voyage formidable!
Une autre vision de la route du sel!Des ponts et des tunnels surprenants pour découvrir les superbes villages perchés.Nous avons vraiment apprécié les commentaires . Et même notre petite fille de 5ans était ravie!Il faut absolument conserver cette ligne exceptionnelle.
