Pour ce concert « Remember Eric Dolphy » seront réactualisées certaines des compositions et standards d’Eric Dolphy.
Eric Dolphy émancipa le bebop des années soixante comme Steve Coleman avec la musique de notre époque. John Coltrane disait volontiers aux critiques pourquoi il l’avait engagé dans son groupe : “Everyone enjoyed it because his presence added some fire to the band” quant à Mingus : “He knew jazz and all the fundamentals of music from the beginning. He used to be the first alto player in Les Height’s band. And he could play anything.”
Bien enraciné dans le jazz et la tête dans le cosmos,c’est ce Dolphy que l’on va tenter d’évoquer
